Hello!
We're the team behind Ctrl + Alt + Deceit performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this Summer! We're a small group of Cambridge students with the very exciting opportunity to perform our very own brand new musical!
This new musical comedy, written and composed by Ariella Gordon, was a top 3 finalist in Music Theatre Melbourne's 'New Works' Competition.
We Need YOU!
To cover all venue fees, accommodations, and subsidize a portion of travel and food costs we would need to raise nearly £17,500! Our fundraising goals include:
Cover Accommodation Costs for all 15 Members of our Team (£7,353.50)
Provide small subsidies for travel (£75/person; £1,200)
Provide small subsidies for food (£75/person; £1,200)

The Show
An evening of musical mayhem, code cracking and biscuit baking in the world of Ariella Gordon’s Ctrl+Alt+Deceit!
Set to an electro-pop inspired fusion, Ctrl+Alt+Deceit! follows Grandma, Andy and technologically naive Aunt June as they descend into the dark web. To stop her beloved Aunt June from getting on her nerves, Andy suggests she finds friends online. Things take a strange turn when Aunt June accidently befriends a low-level drug ring, confusing them for cooking and gardening enthusiasts.
Previously workshopped in Chapel off Chapel, Melbourne, in 2022, Ctrl+Alt+Deceit! has curated love and laughter for all audiences. Ariella Gordon’s whacky, fun and heart-warming Ctrl+Alt+Deceit!, behind the tangled web of coding, online friends and disconnected relationships, teaches the value of familial love in the face of broadening online detachment. This new musical comedy was a top 3 finalist in Music Theatre Melbourne’s ‘New Works’ Competition in 2020, where it received group recognition from Stephen Schwartz and individual praise from the chair of the ‘New Works’ Panel Peter Fitzpatrick.
Written by Cambridge University student Ariella Gordon, this is a specially curated Fringe performance showcasing a condensed version of her full-length musical. Ariella’s compositions are inspired by her professional stage experience, jazz background and participation in numerous bands both in Cambridge and Melbourne, Australia. Starting as a lockdown project, the show particularly looks at how the internet has impacted and continues to shape our communities, families and interactions in a modern world.
This sensational all-female production is packed with fantastic choreography, unforgettable songs, and guaranteed hysterical laughter.
‘Ctrl Alt Deceit! is a highly innovative piece of musical theatre. It’s exciting to see the genesis of work that, whilst still compassionately human, stretches the imaginative scope and technical resources of the form as this does.’
Peter Fitzpatrick, Chair of the Australian Panel, Music Theatre Melbourne New Works Competition 2020
The Impact
Our team has never participated in an Edinburgh Fringe show before, and we are so excited about this amazing first-time opportunity. The Fringe provides a space for on-the-job learning, practical experience within professional theatre spaces, and lots of networking. Our team will gain priceless contacts that will aid in our future development. We also hold the special opportunity to represent the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society at the Fringe, which previously sent shows such as On Your Bike, and Rust. We hope this run popularizes the show and allows us to further workshop our production in London.
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand that not everyone is able to monetarily contribute to our journey! We would love for you to follow our social media accounts and help spread the word for our show. Tell your friends, family, and cyber-enemies to come see this show!
