WOMENS HEALTH ADVOCACY NETWORK (WHAN) is a charity organization that provides support to vulnerable women that has been/going through gender based violence, abuse, modern slavery etc. we are based in Southwark and work mainly with marginalize migrant women and girls from s who has multiple barriers and challenges in accessing mainstream support services. WHAN has been operating in the UK for the past 4 years. providing services like abuse assessment, mentoring, vocational training, empowering and referral. The barriers we have identified over the past 4 years supporting communities in Southwark includes, illiteracy, language and difficulties to communicate or explain their problems to service providers. we have partnered with local organizations to ensure we reach more women in the community to further help tackle the problems they face on a daily basis. One of the organization we have partnered with over the past three years is MARUCCA ASSOCIATION and we currently have 20 women (first cohort) enrolled in an institution studying level 2 child care due to graduate at the end of August 2024. We have also partnered with HEALTH SHOW, an organization that focuses on raising cancer awareness in the community and promoting and encourage healthy living and daily exercise.
