PROJECT NARNIA?
We have 2 talented artists on board with the project to support the design of the wall mural and we are excited to see where this project goes. This wall design is not just for decoration but a tool to support local artists, engage and encourage community and shine a light into the lives of those isolated or lacking community in Belfast. Once the design has been stencilled into the wall and the main features and allegories painted by our artists We will warmly welcome others and all communities together under the roof of the dock cafe to paint the rest of the narnia wall mural. A great way to foster and build relationships. The Narnia theme was chosen due to the author C.S.Lewis originating locally and his collection of the Narnia books being filled with supposals and allegories in relation to the Christian faith. The Dock cafe as you may know doesn't hide that the foundation of it's growth is rooted in faith and their passion for community grows from those roots. To nurture, care, love.
The dock cafe previously had a prayer garden but due to reconstruction there will be a few layout changes. The wall mural will be a main feature within this prayer garden as we hope this project will engage community during the creating process but also long after it has been finished aswell.
The painted allegories and supposals on the wall (sword - word of God / wardrobe- doors of salvation / Aslan- Jesus...) could be used to shape workshops, kids and adults groups, activities, bible studies within the prayer garden. It can also spark up beautiful conversations with each individual welcomed into the cafe or garden.
What do we need?
We need financial funds. This dream and Vision for this future at the dock can open may doors in faith, community and mission and if God encourages or inspires you to support this mission and cause we would be grateful. Thank you for reading
