Aim: Craigneuk Progress FC are climbing Ben Lomond to fund a defibrillator for our men's football team - helping us play safely and save lives
We are Craigneuk Progress FC – a football team built for men who are overweight, united by our passion for the game and our commitment to improving our health, fitness, and mental wellbeing. We proudly play 11-a-side football within the Warriors Football Association and also have an 8-a-side team in the Glasgow 8s League, supporting men who might not have felt football was for them anymore.
On May 31st, we’re taking on Ben Lomond – a hill climb challenge that’s no easy feat for a group of big lads, but we’re determined to do it. Why? Because we’re raising funds to buy something that could genuinely save a life: a mobile defibrillator.
Football is a physically demanding sport – even more so when you’re carrying extra weight. As a team made up entirely of overweight men, we understand that pushing ourselves on the pitch comes with increased risk. Heart-related incidents in sport can happen suddenly and without warning – and while we train smart and play safely, we want to be prepared for any emergency.
A mobile defibrillator would give us immediate life-saving capability at matches, training sessions, or tournaments – no matter where we are. It could mean the difference between life and death in those critical minutes before emergency services arrive.
This isn't just about equipment – it's about peace of mind for our players, our families, and everyone on the pitch with us.
Craigneuk Progress FC is more than a football team. We are a support system, a community, and a second chance for many of our members who had fallen out of love with sport or were struggling with their health. Football is helping us reclaim our lives, improve our fitness, boost our mental health, and build lasting friendships.
Now, we’re asking for your support as we climb Ben Lomond to raise vital funds. Whether it’s £2 or £20, every donation gets us closer to our goal – and closer to ensuring our team can play with confidence and safety.
Please support our hill climb and help us bring a mobile defibrillator to Craigneuk Progress FC.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
