Lions Club of Coventry Godiva is part of the International Association of Lions Clubs which is the largest service organisation in the world with a membership of over 1.4 million spread across 200 countries and geographical regions.
Our club was founded in May 1994 by a group of 20 members. We are a registered Charity and all the Godiva Lions members give their time on voluntary basis. We hold events, run raffles and solicit donations so we can provide funds for causes and communities locally and internationally.
Being part of the Lions family and the network of clubs throughout the globe, Godiva Lion members strive to help those in need, with resources for healthcare, education, food provision as well as disaster relief. Since the formation of our club, we have made many donations to organisations in the UK and abroad.
In the past 26 years, the club has gone from strength to strength, and is now one of the most active and successful in the Lions District 105M.
Fundraising
Fundraising is a main part of any service organisation. We have held many fund raising events over the years. Some of the main ones were the Annual Mela, Charity Golf tournaments, Sponsored Walks, Sponsored Swimming, Musical and Talent nights, Wake awake night, Racing night, Valentine’s, New Year’s Eve and dinner and dance parties, Santa’s Grotto, Life in the Pind, Elvis Night and Beer Festival.
We also raise funds with raffles, collections at stores, supermarkets and festivals throughout the region, and also Facebook and JustGiving fundraisers.
