Escape Venue is a 600 capacity, Grade II listed music venue in the heart of Northampton, attended by 40k people annually. We formed in 2017 when we identified a need for a facility that not only provides niche music, but can also play an important role in supporting local talent. Our programming takes its inspiration from the rich diversity inherent in the genres we platform. Musically, this wide range includes Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Amapiano, Drum & Bass, House, UK Hardcore, Dub & live bands. Northampton may be economically deprived but it is rich with musical talent, giving rise to UK Hardcore international successes DJ Gammer, Dougal, and Joey Riot. Through our links with the University of Northampton, who provide a constant flow of emerging artists for us to program and promote.
We host world-class artists that have not performed anywhere else in the region, such as Afrobeats star Burna Boy, Davido, Sakodi, Naila Marley. Through our work we elevate and inspire local talent by bringing in these leading international artists (normally from Africa & America) and enrich the cultural landscape of Northampton and the Midlands. This approach has seen the development of local artists like Great Adamz, Young Chap, Sanjoni, DJ Buzy Lee and Holy who are now working with BBC 1Extra, and more recently during our live streams with female DJ Flik-B supporting established artist MC Storm.
The rising cost of living has impacted on people’s ability to purchase tickets for arts events. The rising energy cost has led to increased energy bill and thus threatening the survival of Escape venue. We are appealing for your financial support to raise funds to avoid Escape venue from permanent closure.
Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
