Who are we?

Formed in 1996, Cornwall Cricket Board provides opportunities for adults and children, aged 5 and up, of all abilities to take part in Cricket across Cornwall. We want to grow cricket in the County by providing more opportunities for people to take part in the sport enabling them to discover and share their passion for cricket.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are raising money to update and improve Cornwall Cricket Centre. The Centre serves as a pivotal hub for the Cornwall Cricket Board, hosting teams spanning disability and County Age Groups. The centre provides a winter training facility for cricket clubs across the county and plays host to indoor competitions allowing cricket to be an all year round sport. The Centre is also a hub for the development and support of volunteers, Coach and official education for all 67 clubs in the County. Beyond cricket, the centre's versatile main hall accommodates various clubs and sports, from netball to baseball. The hall's flexibility, with five lanes and multiple classrooms, facilitates concurrent use and diverse activities. While the state-of-the-art facility currently caters to cricket, necessary updates are crucial for its long-term future. Proposed alterations aim to broaden usability, welcoming diverse sports and organisations. The envisioned enhancements, including historical imagery showcasing players' professional journeys, promise to inspire and motivate current teams, fostering a deeper connection with Cornwall Cricket Centre's storied legacy.

The Cornwall Cricket Centre has played a crucial role in nurturing the careers of numerous Cornish cricket players, enabling them to excel and join various professional teams. The Centre caters to a wide spectrum of participants, ranging from 5-year-old beginners to pathway players aspiring for professional careers. We have a disability team, set to compete professionally in 2024, and support and develop women & girls cricket across the county. Throughout winter, the Centre unites cricket clubs countywide, fostering year-round engagement with the sport. Additionally, recent modifications have facilitated access for other sports and community activities, enriching our offerings and extending our impact.

Opening up the Centre to more people including those living with disabilities, can help with building skills and confidence and improving social networks. People come to the Centre to learn cricket but to also have fun, meet new people and socially engage.

As well as improving physical fitness sports can help increase balance and coordination, improve sleep, reduce stress and improve confidence. It is also a great platform for people to socialise with others with similar interests and expand friendship groups.

Cornwall Cricket Board and the Community

Cornwall Cricket Board plays a vital role within Cornwall's cricketing community, serving as the official governing body and working closely with all 66 clubs throughout the county. We provide consistent support and guidance to clubs, regularly hosting courses at our centre on topics ranging from safeguarding to coaching. Our strong ties with the cricketing community allow us to maintain regular communication, ensuring we understand their evolving needs and the dynamic environment. We facilitate regular meetings with clubs, fostering opportunities for valuable feedback and collaboration. Our communication extends beyond cricket to other sports and the wider public, engaging through events, social media platforms, and our newsletter.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be used to purchase new equipment and to give the building a fresh coat of paint.

We will also be creating a theme wall and displaying pictures of professional cricketers who have used the Centre to inspire future generations.

The planned adaptations will encourage greater use of the Centre not only by Cricket Clubs but by other sports, providing the Centre with a sustainable future for many years to come.
