Aim: The Swiss Garden has several sculptures, bridges, and more. Funding needed to restore & maintain. The Summerhouse needs urgent help.
Our Story
The 9-acre Swiss Garden, lies 2 miles west of Biggleswade in rural Bedfordshire. The garden is the only complete example of a Regency landscape in the UK
I volunteer as a Conservation Steward at the Shuttleworth Collection and The Swiss Garden. The garden is also a unique example of a Regency garden in the picturesque ‘Alpine’ style, and forms part of the Grade II* registered park of Old Warden. Features and planting from two centuries combine to create the enchanting garden. This garden is maintained, on the whole, by volunteers. People from all walks of life visit the garden all year round. The Garden makes a wonderful contribution to the environment.
Structures & Ornaments
Some of the structures and ornaments need constant maintenance and restoration work. A pressing challenge is for a complete restoration of the Summerhouse by expert Woodworkers. The Summerhouse was first erected in 1877.
Summerhouse👆 It has been well maintained on the outside but eaten away on the inside.
