This year I was made aware of the company Americamp, they are an agency that helps people from across the UK to fulfill their dream of working on a summer camp in America! This is something I have always wanted to do but never had the confidence to apply, this year I have decided to go for it and applied for the 2025 season! I applied in September and passed my application and agency interview just 2 weeks later, so far I have far had 2 interviews with a provisional offer from 1 camp. It’s a chance for me to grow, challenge myself, and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime! Here are a few questions that people have asked me so far:
- What will you being doing and how long will it last?
The aim is for me to accept a position at a camp that are interested in hiring me and also one that I want to spend my summer at, working in an amazing environment and learning new skills! I would be leaving roughly end of May to beginning of June and coming back home at the beginning of September, after camp I will also be given the opportunity to travel around the US which I will taking full advantage of!
- What is a summer camp?
A summer camp is a site that hosts children from all different walks of life over a set period in the holidays or for the entire holidays! Whilst at camp, children are given the opportunity to take part in different tasks and activities ranging from arts&crafts, outdoor activities and watersports! Some camps are massive at sizes of 1200 acres and some are smaller with only a couple hundred acres, with different environments on offer! Some have farms (which as you can imagine I'd like a place on!) and some have 350 acres forest area's, no 2 camps are the same!
- Why do you want to take part?
I want to take part as it is a new experience! I have never done anything like this before and think it will be a brilliant chance for me to grow my confidence and learn new skills! I have worked in various different environments with lots of different people but think this is an amazing chance to see a new country whilst having an amazing time!
The reason I have created this crowdfunder is to help me with the total cost of the entire journey! The accommodation and food ar camp are included in my agency fees, so this sill go towards anything extra u nay need and help with my visa application.The entire costs for the trip are roughly £4500 which includes my agency fee's, travel costs and any extra costs.
