i want to offer basic loo facilities for people coming to our creative wellbeing ‘field studio’ in the wild northwest of Wales

by Rachel Rosen in Pwllheli, Wales, United Kingdom

i’m an artist who also really values nature and wellbeing.

since moving to a new place with a bit of land a year ago, i am hoping to start providing a space for people to come and be peaceful, connect to nature and give space to their wellbeing and creativity. that may be to join an outside day activity that combines creativity and wellbeing. and if people stay and camp in one of fields, they can immerse themselves in the the cycles of day and night, moon and stars, the seasons and weather. they will have the option on doing personalised Qi Gong sessions with me, or simply take in the sights sounds and smells of nature amongst the wildflowers and bees in our meadows.

the ‘field studio’ may be for single artists, or groups… it may be an organised day of sharing and learning, an intensive co-creation residential for a mixed group of artists musicians poets therapists and imagineers… or a simple mini residency for an artist to explore an idea they’ve needed the space for.

to make this happen i want to be able to provide some basic facilities, starting with a compost loo that can be tucked in by a hedgerow. over time i would like to create a simple field studio structure, a field kitchen and possibly some glamping options for those that a tent is just too basic for.

but i’m starting small. having the loo will enable me to run daytime creative sharing and wellbeing days without necessarily needing to open up my home - boundaries are healthy! or to offer people an overnight stay or two while we create.

we’ll see how that goes, and hope to engage people in helping us build the next stage of facilities.

it will all be run on a not-for-profit basis, but i will have to make some kind of charges to cover costs. ideally i would avoid needing to recoup the cost of bigger more expensive items like the loo and other facilities, by fundraising for these to start with. i would also offer most guests the option to ‘pay as you can’ and one way to do that will be through this crowdfunder, it will also allow people to make donations if they want to support the project.

thanks for reading and maybe see you here one day!
