Compassion in Care provides ongoing support to families, individuals in care, and workers raising concerns about the care sector and cases of mistreatment and abuse. Our efforts include publishing comprehensive evidence from the helpline, exposing abuse, safeguarding the vulnerable, and supporting whistleblowers. We actively monitor and respond to regulatory reports and government policies affecting the elderly, aiming to raise public awareness and educate on elderly abuse through research and evidence publication. The charity's outstanding contributions were acknowledged with a nomination for the European Parliament GUE/NGL award, making us the first UK charity ever shortlisted. Recognition also came in the form of Amnesty International acknowledging our pandemic-era work in their report on human rights abuses in care. Importantly, Compassion in Care's independence from Care Sector and Government funding ensures an unbiased pursuit of truth.

1We call for:
1. ONE law to protect ALL whistle-blowers in ALL sectors: Edna’s Law.
2. A public inquiry so that those responsible for wrongdoing, including victimisation of whistleblowers, or concealing wrongdoing are held to account and the wrongdoing of organisations and individuals can be exposed to avoid recurrence.
3. That all those whistle-blowers who have been failed by the system and by the Public Interest Disclosure Act be given full redress.
4. Running a helpline that supports families of elderly people receiving care and whistleblowers who report concerns about care of elderly.
Without accountability nothing can truly change. This is the root of the problem.
It is impossible to build “a new culture” on an unjust and rotten foundation and to try to do so is to condone the past wrongdoing.
Edna’s Law will protect the protectors
and therefore protect the public.
