Hi I'm Palla, I have a BSc in International Business & Management and will be starting a MSc in sustainability and environment. My background has been in IT and Operations having over 4 years experience in corporate from the likes of Heineken and Capgemini.
Having recently been made redundant, I've started gardening to spend my time wisely before my MSc starts, I've ended up with 25 aloe vera plants with no where to really sell these... I've joined facebook groups but not found a group where I'd like to post, equally not confident with sharing banking details on FB.
Here is where I'm thinking my idea finding a gap in the market will really make a difference in the way our modern world operates. Think Vinted/Gumtree however dedicated to nature, plants and produce. - A Greener Tomorrow: Growing Our Communities, Reducing Waste, and Supporting Future Generations
Imagine a neighborhood where every garden, balcony, and even spare plot of land is a place of abundance. Where the food we grow doesn’t go to waste but instead flows into the hands of those who need it most. Where communities come together, not just to share meals, but to share knowledge, resources, and a collective vision for a more sustainable future. This is the future we envision.
Our platform is more than just a space to buy, swap, and share produce – it’s a catalyst for change. By empowering individuals to grow, share, and connect over fresh, local food, we’re transforming the way we think about food systems and waste. Our mission is to reduce food waste at a grassroots level by creating an interconnected network of local growers, from home gardeners to small businesses like butchers and green grocers. Together, we can keep valuable food out of landfills and put it back into the hands of those who can use it.
But we don’t want to stop there. Our dream is to expand this movement into local businesses, encouraging butchers, grocers, and others in the food industry to join the platform, contributing surplus products that would otherwise go to waste. With the power of the community, we can create a truly circular food system, where every business, grower, and neighbor has a role to play in reducing waste and supporting local economies.
One of the most important elements of this vision is the next generation. By supporting and teaching children to grow their own food, we’re planting the seeds for a sustainable future. With educational tools and resources available on our platform, children can learn the importance of growing food, making healthier choices, and understanding the value of sustainability. Whether it’s a small garden project at home or a school allotment, we want to equip the leaders of tomorrow with the skills they need to continue this movement for years to come.
We also recognize the importance of allotments and community spaces in fostering a stronger sense of connection. By encouraging and supporting local allotments, we can turn unused land into thriving green spaces that benefit both the environment and the people who care for them. These spaces will not only be places for growing food but also for building relationships and sharing experiences.
But we know that growing food is not just about giving back to the environment—it’s also about ensuring that those who choose to grow for their community can thrive. That’s why we’re committed to helping local growers turn their passion for gardening into a small but meaningful income stream. By selling surplus produce, sharing seeds, and offering gardening tips to others, they can support their hobby while contributing to a larger cause.
Together, we’re not just reducing food waste—we’re building a resilient, sustainable, and supportive network that empowers individuals, businesses, and future generations. Let’s create a world where every backyard is a garden, every neighbor is a friend, and every meal is a chance to make a difference. Join us in growing a greener tomorrow.
