As the founder of HoodEx, I am excited to bring forth a project that is deeply personal to me. I've been where our volunteers are now and understand the importance of a second chance. At 21, I had 42 convictions but through fitness and structure, I turned my life around, joined the Royal Navy and won 3 captain's awards over a 13 year career.
Using the same methods that worked for me, I am partnering with my friend, Katie, to implement these programs to give ex-offenders job opportunities and access to valuable skills to become a valued part of society. HoodEx will establish a vintage clothing store in South Shields and sell sustainable fashion at affordable prices.
We have created a start up budget of £8,000 to start the project, including leasing a retail unit, initial stock and legals. The funds will also contribute to the costs of establishing our benefits program, which includes gym memberships, training sessions, food vouchers, and travel passes for our volunteers.
I believe in the power of giving people a purpose and access to the tools they need for success. In doing so, I want to help reduce recidivism and build safer communities. However, I need help to achieve this goal.
At HoodEx, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance and we want to make a tangible difference in the lives of ex-offenders in our community. We need your support in making this a reality. Thank you for considering supporting our project.
