After a few chats with locals in Bournemouth and Poole, people became serious at the idea of raising some funds- we may not reach enough for a trip to Tahiti, but certainly something to say thank you, from everyone.
I don’t know Darren on a personal level, however, the help he has given to so many people has warmed the hearts of Dorset.
For those of you who don’t know about Darren’s good deeds- Darren has spent many years reuniting people with their lost items. It doesn’t matter whether this is at 3am or 3pm, sun, snow or storm- he is there, even making a few dives in the sea. To date, Darren has made 164 discoveries, with a whopping 177 items being reunited with their owners. These items include countless wedding/engagement rings, keys, necklaces, and much more- even a flagpole for a brownies group.
Reading a recent article featuring Darren- being described as the “The recoverer of East Dorset Coast’s lost treasures,” gave some enlightenment on why Darren does what he does- which is simply because it puts a smile on people’s faces. From a community perspective, it’s so lovely that there is someone so genuine out there who wants to do nothing but good for strangers. Now, I feel it’s our turn to do some good for him.
If you would like to contribute, please do and leave a message should you wish to do so. I’m hoping Darren will be okay and accepting to others wanting to do something for him for a change, whilst also being able to see just how many people appreciate his kind generosity.
