Gedling is an area that always gets overlooked. With over 1050 new houses being built in an already over populated area, there is a desperate need for sports facilities for the local community. The former Gedling school site was knocked down over 3 years ago and has since been sat in ruins with plans from the county to build even more houses. The money we raise will build a brand new sports facility complete with 3G football pitches, a gym, sports hall, changing rooms and a small cafe. The MAS community runs sessions for all groups and abilities with a following of over 2000 people in the local community. Sessions include parent toddler, girls only, men’s mental health sessions as well as many more. We have over 250 children and adults on our waiting lists as there simply aren’t the facilities to cope with demand. NCC recently turned down an application to approve the use of portable floodlighting despite recommendations from sport England as well as highways patrol that these be approved. This in turn has affected hundreds of children and adults from being able to access sport which in turn has had a huge impact on both their physical and mental health. We now more than ever need to come together as a community to raise the funds needed to build a much needed sports facility for the community of Gedling.
