Community of Helping Hands was set up to support those in need and those working on the front-line during the Covid-19 pandemic. It evolved into a service proving over 6000 food parcels during the crisis. The organisation has grown since then and focuses on bringing our community together to help tackle hunger and poverty in the Glasgow by providing compassionate and practical support. While also Improving the communities’ health and well-being, by the provision of services to meet their social, emotional and physical needs. We have since opened a Community Food Store, which is open to our local community and supports anyone struggling with food and essentials.

The full community benefits from our Community Food Store, those that need support with food and essentials are able to receive it in a compassionate and practical. Also we have engaged with the community and have local residents now volunteering in our store. We currently support 178 households every week, this breaks down to 732 individuals. We are also proving support to those that are unable to collect food from our store due as elderly or have a disability that physical prevents them from collecting provisions.

Our store is open to everyone in our community and actively encourage everyone to use our store as it benefits everyone.

Like everyone COHH is facing financial reality of the pandemic. We are crowdfunding because there is absolutely no funds for ongoing operational costs, maintenance of the building which is badly needed, plus the produce you will find in our store. Without funding, we will need to start planning to close our doors, leaving our community without the support we provide.

Our aim is to ensure we can remain operational for the next 6 months to able us to continue to support the people in our community who now depend and trust us.
