Community Basketball Sessions - Manchester

Aim: We are aiming to build a thriving basketball community where everyone has the opportunity to play, train, and connect with each other.

Basketball in the UK has a growing but underserved community. Our research shows that many amateur players are dissatisfied with the lack of resources and opportunities available to them. Through our surveys, more than half of respondents expressed a need for:

• More training and skill development opportunities
• Social and community-based basketball events
• Competitive tournaments with cash prizes

The biggest barriers preventing players from fully engaging with the sport include limited access to quality courts, lack of time, and financial costs. Unity Hoops is here to break down these obstacles and make basketball more accessible for everyone.

Who We Serve

Amateur basketball players balancing other life commitments but still looking for ways to play.

Basketball enthusiasts who struggle to find sessions or teams to join.

Anyone passionate about the game and eager to improve their skills, meet new people, and stay active.

Our immediate objective is to establish inclusive weekly basketball sessions that welcome everyone—regardless of skill level or existing connections. These sessions are designed to foster a supportive environment where participants can feel comfortable, build confidence, and enjoy the game without pressure.

We plan to begin with one weekly session at a time that suits most of our community, with the intention of expanding to two sessions per week as interest and participation grow.

In addition, we plan to introduce skill development sessions to help participants improve their abilities in preparation for competitive play. All programming will evolve organically as we continue to grow and respond to the needs of our community.
