To improve health and well-being by organising activities in the community. Providing fresh fruit and vegetables for single families.

The Jewish Community Foundation Trust, known also as the JCFT, was founded by the late Jay Charara  with the purpose of identifying initiatives and projects that would achieve positive resolutions to the many issues impacting the Jewish Community in the Greater Manchester region. Following Jay's untimely death in 2023, the Management Team is committed to continuing the vision and aims of the Foundation.

Who are the JC Foundation Trust?

The Jewish Community Foundation Trust is based in North Manchester and has been actively supporting the community for the last 6 years through a variety of projects which include

  • Health
  • Employment
  • Social cohesion
  • Support with family issues
  • Support relating to the Cost of Living
  • Addressing Social Isolation.

We are focusing on two of our main projects

  • Community Hubs

Since late 2023 we established Hubs and activities in North Manchester that has brought people together of all ages and all levels of religious observance to meet regularly, to address the issue of social isolation and the improvement of mental and physical health.

The sessions have included guest speakers who have discusses their roles in the wider community, share knowledge, skills and offer information on support  and a variety of identified issues. Most importantly though it has brought people together, new friendships and support networks have been formed. We have also encouraged  individuals who attend to take a lead on discussion etc.

The project also encourages individuals to become involved in planned outdoor activities in local parks.

We are looking for funding to further develop this project in different areas in North Manchester, Bury and Salford

The project covers the recruitment of a team of volunteers, our Community Angels.

  • Waste Not Want Not project.

It has been recognised that for a healthy childhood and for children and adults to combat illness it is important that a healthy diet is available. We have contacted local shops who provide us with healthy food at reduced cost that is nearing its sell-by date for distribution. Fresh fruit meat and fish is purchased fresh for distribution. At present as a trial, we have established a fortnightly distribution of fresh fruit, vegetables and occasionally fish to local families. We would like to expand this project to reach more families that have been identified as requiring this support including purchasing Kosher meat. The food is distributed discreetly by our volunteers.

The team at JCFT are asking for your support on these projects so we can continue supporting the community in which we all live and of which we are very proud to be a part of.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and look forward to your support

Best wishes
