Community Social Lunch Hub

Aim: Running costs for our social and lunch hub to continue to provide companionship and healthy meals for older people twice weekly .
- We are a small not for profit organisation based in the Lake District that runs a social club twice weekly at the Marchesi Centre , Windermere , Cumbria . We provide a two course hot lunch / activities / non stop refreshments / gentle exercise in a warm, welcoming venue with lots of fun for older people to alleviate loneliness and depression.
We can accommodate up to 30 people per session but due to the increased costs of daily living costs and pressures on local govnt spending we are struggling to survive. We charge £5 per session if people can afford this because it costs over £200 per session to run the hub . We don’t pressure people to pay as we understand many people are struggling with bills etc . Many of our current attendees live in supported living or social housing and live on their own.
The demand on our services continues to grow and we currently employ 3 part time staff to run the club / prepare meals from scratch / transport people to and from the club The club is the only social interaction many of our attendees experience during the week.
Current session costings are £30 rent / £30 meal ingredients and refreshments /£150 wages for 2.5 staff plus admin costs .
Our vision is to run the social and lunch hub twice weekly all year and also have a lunch home delivery service so people don’t miss out when they can’t attend due to illness or other reasons .
