Kilchattan Primary School is far flung, a wee haven of learning and fun in the Isle of Colonsay. Once a year the school plans a mainland trip, for swimming lessons, time spent with a partner school and mainland experiences. This is a valuable week for our kids, and it requires healthy Parent Council funds to make it possible.
For a sponsored expedition, well we’re surrounded by the Atlantic ocean! Colonsay has a wild and rugged coastline, and our neighbouring island Oronsay is only tidally accessible. The coastline with its peninsulas, cliff tops and rough ground will take me ~62km on foot, and probably 3 nights in a tent…although 2 might be possible. It will be a challenge!
It will be a solo expedition, but with a visit to the primary school with tent and equipment to share with the children what’s involved! ⛺️
I’m intending to set off as soon as I’m prepared…wish me luck!
