The Ugly Duckling Company is passionate about helping people find life in all its fullness through the power of conversation. They are currently raising funds towards the development of new resources for children, young people and families, including 10:10 for Children.

10:10 For Children is a resource that will equip children's workers to support children aged 5-11 to build personal resilience, explore spirituality and improve their mental health and well-being.

Childhood should be the happiest time in a person’s life, yet for thousands of children in the UK the reality is very different. In 2020, one in six children aged 5 to 16 years were identified as having a probable mental disorder, increasing from one in nine in 2017. In addition to the important emphasis on mental health awareness campaigns and the need to increase the provision of specialist services, we also need to help children learn skills that will strengthen their well-being before they become unwell. There is much more that can be done to help promote and establish well-being in children earlier on.To embrace the challenges of creating a happy and successful adult life, children need knowledge that will enable them to discover helpful practices that can support their well-being, as well as know what to do when they feel sad. 10:10FC will seek to do this. 1662113747_1010fc_starter_mockup.jpg

Exploring 10 themes and presented at three different age appropriate levels, 1010:FC will provide an opportunity for children to discover the difference kindness, forgiveness, savouring, friendships, purpose, and looking after the body, mind and soul can have on their well-being.

To raise money, I am challenging myself to cycle approximately 2,000 miles around the coast of Ireland, within 3 weeks.

I appreciate that it is a difficult time for many people financially and so would not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. However, if you can contribute towards helping me1662113017_62f189dd-1435-4b60-86f9-2d9696671ccd_1_105_c.jpeg achieve my target it will be massively appreciated.  Find me on Social Media too, so that you can see my updates, and cheer me on. Thank you. Colin.
