What's Involved?


The cold water challenge is to submerge oneself in cold water (neck deep) for 5 minutes or more. This can be done at home in an ice bath, or at your nearest open water swimming spot - Click here to find yours. As a bonus, you can add a swimming target - I'll be doing 500 meters. Bring every cell in your body to life and experience all the amazing benefits of cold water immersion, whilst raising funds to support those most in need in our communities. Sure to give you a cold body, but a warm heart!

Who's it for?

The challenge is in aid of the Shiva Trust Charity, who are an amazing organisation that have impacted thousands of peoples' lives on the margins of society. They were a rock for some of those hardest hit during Covid - who had a huge lack of health and well-being opportunities, who were impacted by isolation and loneliness due to poor housing, no green spaces and little or no family. Shiva Trust were a friend to speak to, providing support with funeral costs, energy and telephone vouchers for bills and daily food parcels. They provided at-home activities too, such as books, jigsaws, knitting, arts and crafts.

They now urgently need funds in order to provide life skills support to low income communities that have been devastated by the pandemic and the poverty crisis in Britain today. This means training in emotional management, employability skills, developing a sense of community, eating healthy on a budget, exercise, self-care, career and work-life support, social support, knowing their strengths and how to use them to their best advantage and being aware of their weaknesses.

The cold water bit is for You! Studies have shown that Cold water can be used to treat a variety of mental and physical health conditions including depression, anxiety and inflammation. Regular dipping can have a big impact on your overall mood and health!

When is the challenge?

The challenge will take place on May 15th at 9am, when everyone who signs up will have a united dip in their own home or local open water site! If you want to take part but can't make that date, just schedule another date/ time that is convenient for you.

You can start gathering sponsors from family and friends right now and save the date in your diary to get super cool... but if you're on this page you already are ;)
