The idea for this Café is to reach the vulnerable who may also be in some really dark situations. It is important in this current climate that people feel valued, loved and supported.
The Searchlight team will be on hand to talk to anyone who is in need of support or advice. Staff are trained in support work which includes safeguarding, trauma informed care, human trafficking, child protection and disability, substance misuse, crisis management, suicide prevention, asylum and refugee support, public funds/benefits, mental health and first aid.
For mums with small kids, we have a sensory area and toys to enjoy. They can relax, have a coffee while knowing their child is safe and having fun.
Instead of purchasing each item all, we ask is for a donation towards each order. It will be a ‘pay-as-you-feel’ and there will be a collection box at the Counter as people place their order. If you do not carry cash we also take card donations.
We would be happy to welcome anyone who feel this service would benefit them and we hope to expand this further as it grows. We will have a part of the café where we would promote local businesses throughout Aberdeen.
