PRINT JOURNALISM IS DYING. This is especially true with music journalism and we want to keep it alive.

by CLUNK Magazine in Falmouth, , United Kingdom

How It Started

When CLUNK first started, back in 2015 we had one main goal/dream. That was to push past the digital sphere and it to the physical world. Fast forward a few years and this is something we have achieved. We've released a handful of zines that have reached audiences across the globe. Through the zines, we've also given a home to longer form content, such as full feature interviews, opinion pieces, and features. Not to mention, highlight and support some of the worlds best artists, such as Fidlar, Pip Millet, FEET, and more. In addition to this, given Cornish artists a place in this physical space with previous covers and features including Webmoms and Peri Rae

The Message

Print is dying and we are seeing independent publications disappearing left, right, and centre. We have been fortunate enough to be able to run CLUNK Zine on a shoestring budget with it mostly breaking even. However, to expand and keep making our zines we need a cash injection. This cash injection not only allows us to keep creating zines and expanding what is possible with our creativity BUT helps keep physical media alive. In a time that feels more disconnected than ever, the one thing that can unite people is something physical, something real, something that is TRULY creative. By helping us your helping keen print journalism alive.

The Next Step

Turns out that physical media is expensive. Although we have managed to print a handful of magazines on a shoestring budget, pulling in favours, handouts, and in general a hustler's spirit, we need a small cash injection to keep this dream alive. With this in mind, we've gone all in with our next zine, with Luvcat taking the front page and interviews with Getdown Services, Prima Queen, Alien Chicks, CHALK, and Divorce. For the first time ever we also invested in a full professional studio shoot for our front cover. We also sorted in person shoots for EVERY artist featured in this edition, meaning not only are the interviews exclusive, so is the photography.

We really cannot stress this... Zine 003 is our best yet and we CANNOT wait for you to see it.

Why Do We Need This Cash Injection?

As mentioned, creating physical print is expensive but it IS important. A lot of publications will subsidise their costs via ads, which is something we have struggled to get. Due in part to our team being so small, we're but three people who all work full time jobs on top of. So, we don't have a dedicated ad's person (let alone department). This cash injection could change the very trajectory of CLUNK and it's physical releases. If we raise enough money, it could support this creative process for years to come, allow us to fully invest in our creative team, and most importantly, continue to add a fully independent voice in a time of controlled media.

How Will The Cash be Spent?

This is the important question. Here's how Your money will help US..

- Allows us to invest into our creative team and financially reward them for their hard work (by investing in them we help them grow and become even stronger artists)

- Helps us cover the printing costs (which have gone up considerably in the last two years).

- Allows us to invest into digital ads to increase sales (and income, which in turn allows us to expand and invest back into the next zine).

What Do YOU Get From Investing?

- You become part of a rare group of people that want to keep independent music press alive.

- Help keep a creative outlet for students and people of all ages alive.

- Help a Cornish business thrive (a county that is often overlooked and underfunded as is).

- Show to people that the music community is stronger together!
