Who are we?
The Harlequins Bowls and Community Club is both run as an affiliated bowls club as well as a resource for the local community. We have been very succesful club with several of our members representing Wales in both Commonwealth Games and World Championships. The main facilities being a 6 rink outdoor bowls green along with changing rooms, clubhouse and function room.

Why are we crowdfunding?
We as a Club have been reviewing our activities and resources with specific reference to our future both from a financial aspect and from a members/service user point of view. Financially the club has been impacted firstly by COVID and then by the following cost of living crisis. From this review we have we have highlighted our club house and how this can be improved and turned into more of a multipurpose facility as currently we feel this is a very under used resource.

How we’ll spend the money raised
1. Renovate and upgrade function room which currently has fixed sitting. We would like to remove the fixed sitting which will make the space more usable.
i. Used for short mat indoor bowls.
ii. Second Temporary skittle alley
iii. Other Income games
iv. Ability to invite external groups to use space (extremely limited in what we can offer now due to fixed sitting). Recently had to turn down request from local organisation who wanted to hire a local facility however our fixed seating prevented this.
2. Renovate and reuse Kitchen area, we currently employ a bar steward and offer basic food. This would allow us to cater for external events (funerals, parties, other room hires).
3. Decorate and renovate the main bar area to make it a lovely place for members to visit, specially we are looking at new carpet, tables, and chairs.
4. Finally, as part of the club house we have a toilet area which in the summer is used by members and visitors to the bowling green. Over the last couple of years, we have attracted new members including Female bowler. This is a key with which we are looking to increase with long term intention of running a lady’s team. We therefore want to improve this area to make it more attractive specifically with above development in mind.
