In November 2024 we are taking our under 18 girls team to compete in the EU Nations tournament (over 4 days). This team played in the National Age Group championships in Gloucester in April 24, bringing home the silver medal. To qualify for the final, the team achieved a huge win against City of Manchester, a team who receive full funding from their local council, including free pool time.
As a result of the outstanding performance at this competition, the squad has been invited to play at the EU Nations tournament, this will be the majority of players first international competition. It’s being held in the Czech Republic and the team will have the amazing opportunity to play against a mix of international clubs and countries.
The squad is a wonderful group of 12 girls aged 15 to 17, who are supportive of each other, committed to their training and always give 100%. The club would love to be able to send this team to compete, however the full cost of competition entry, travel with coaches and a team manager, along with costs towards an LEN referee (requirement as part of entry) has been estimated at £12,000. Unfortunately, waterpolo does not receive any funding from Swim England or Aquatics GB.
We are aiming to raise £3,000 towards this total to reduce costs for the players from approx £860 per player to approx £600 each. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.
what your donations are contributing towards:
- £167 will pay for accommodation & food for 1 player for 4 days
- £624 will cover the Czech transfers for all 12 players in the squad
- £760 is the cost of Official LEN Referee (terms of entry)
- £840 will pay for the required kit for all 12 players in the squad (poolside top & jacket X12)
- £1,002 will pay for accommodation & food for 6 players for 4 days
- £2,000 will pay the full entry costs for the competition
- £2,925 will cover the cost of the return flights for all 12 players & 3 members of staff attending (Swim England guidelines state due to the ages of the players we must take 3 members of staff)
