CITICARE INTERNATIONAL LTD
We are a diverse group of people determined to make a difference to the lives of marginalised and oppressed individuals and families. We provide a space in London for diverse performing artists and encourage them to raise awareness of humanitarian needs in Pakistan. We are relational and work among people we come to know through our networks. We target help to neglected victims of natural disasters, the sick and the educational needs of disadvantaged young people in London and overseas. We aim to provide that crucial step they need to flourish.

CitiCare International Ltd: Together Through the Arts.
Our History
Our charity was launched in East London 1998, to bring diverse peoples together in peace and address issues of marginalisation and inequality in London and beyond. We founded the Noor Jehan Arts Centre (NJArts-London). Sir Cliff Richard OBE formally opened the Centre, becoming a Patron together with Ustad Dr. Zakir Hussain Padma Bushan and Ustad Jamal Shah.
Our Activities
We promote social cohesion bringing communities together to enjoy each other's cultural heritage. We mobilise artists to promote social change by bringing medical and relief needs to the attention of their audiences. We launched our first Pakistan Relief activities in 2005, in response to the catastrophic Quake of that year. Flood Relief and help for victims of terrorist attacks in Pakistan followed.
Medical and Relief Fund.
We are currently creating a Medical Fund for individuals in need in Pakistan.
Here we feature a lady who suffered terrible burns to her face, neck and upper body when a faulty gas cannister blew up in her face while cooking. She comes from a small village, where her husband is a casual labourer. Their teenage daughter contacted us, desperate for help. We funded emergency surgery in a city hospital to prevent her mother's head from being pulled down permanently by scar tissue, but her lips remain sealed and she is fed through a straw. Further surgery will correct this issue, but must be done before the weather is too hot. Meanwhile, the Mother and daughter need living costs and educational fees so that they can have a future. The father returned to his village long ago. They have no family members to help, the breadwinner effectively abandoned his family due to destitution.
Inflation in Pakistan at the moment is over 38%, affecting living and medical costs. Local people cannot possibly pay for these kinds of treatments, but we really want to help. We have raised over £2k, but surgery alone costs twice as much. They also need living costs and a further, final operation in the autumn.
How We Operate.
We work through groups of friends on the ground, volunteers, not salaried employees. Through our network of supporters, our charity has previously funded effective disaster relief, medical care and educational support in Pakistan. We have built up a team of reliable volunteers who command the respect of those who know them. Most recently, we partnered with another arts organisation to deliver relief to stranded, destitute, abandonned families in flood stricken Balochistan.
All funds raised here go to our Medical Fund, so email us if you need further information.
