My first job began when i was 14 years old, starting in 1998 and never being out of work since that day until Feb 2020 when the company i worked for went into administration. After some personal anguish, stress and a 2 relapses in mental health which i suffered from a young age i realised i could no longer work in the industry i loved and built a career from.
I began volunteering at a charity shop and local recycling centre to try and keep the skills i worked hard to achieve active and improve my mental health. It was during this time my passion for waste reduction, collecting antiques and previous e-commerce career all came together and gave me an idea where i saw a gap in the market.
The phrase "one persons trash is another persons treasure" could not be more true when it comes to this venture. I have always been passionate about waste reduction and whilst not in work the extreme lengths to utilise everything i had was my major driving point in becoming even more involved with reducing waste.
Sustainable lifestyles can also Improve your mental health by contributing to reducing landfill waste and connecting customers with affordable items they wish to buy that otherwise would not be able to afford
My vision is to create a platform for selling second hand, antique, vintage and collectable goods. Sourcing my own stock before it goes to landfill. Customers can also send back their unwanted goods they would have been binned when there may be a use for them for someone else.
Time is precious and something we all need more of, this can make it difficult for people that consciously wish to reduce the items they have without them going into the bin and ending in landfill. We will offer a free postage service to return goods to us from 100's of product categories that we then sort and either re-sell on, donate to local charities and communities and the final stage our local recycling centre for further recycling to the last point.
An example below of the items we will accept, the category list is much longer but this gives a brief over view of what we can recycle in the short term.
We will trade via our vision of trading via a website (to be created) and third party marketplaces intending longer term plans when profitable to become an active member and supporter of local community projects and charitable organisations.
I am currently selling through Depop to help achieve my goal, as the site targets the key demographical groups I will be trading to
Depop’s impact on the fashion and resale industry, shedding light on its growing community of buyers and sellers.
