Well it is that time of year when we, Christmas in Kirkliston, request the help of our Villagers to ensure we can ‘Light up our Village’ at Christmas on Saturday 27th November at 4.00pm. We are sadly in a financially difficult position that if we do not reach our target this year we may have to make a difficult choice and forgo some lighting in the village for 2021. Last year was a difficult year for everyone and we purposefully did not do any fundraising as it was a challenging time for all our local Businesses. So due to Covid we used up most of our reserves to ensure the lights went up. This has left us with £1,000. We require a minimum of £4,000 to cover the cost of having 33 lights put up, taken down, plus Insurance. We also hope to hold a community switch on Event, restrictions depending, on the Main Street which we are currently discussing the closure with CEC so hopefully permission will be given for this. However if we do hold an Event the cost will increase to approx £6,500 due to Stage Hire, Insurance, Barriers etc Pricing is based on previous years accounts. We plan to set up a Crowdfunder for £5,000 in addition to applying for grants, our lottery, and asking businesses and organisations for Sponsorship. Sponsors for a Lamppost [£250/Lampost for one year : a reduced rate of £450/Lamppost for 2 years] We are also holding fundraising events in July, August, September and October . As most of you know we are a small team of Volunteers who continually strive to make this happen for our Villagers and have done so since 2016 when the Council stopped providing Christmas Lights for all local Villages. Please help us continue to Light up Kirkliston Village - all contributions are welcome no matter how small. We will be sending out letters to Local Businesses in the hope that they will support us too . Thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to your help, as you did in 2016, by raising the necessary funding to make this happen.
