It seems almost unbelievable but its true. Thousands of older people in Teesside need Age UK Teesside’s help right now- which means we need your help...
The governments decision to means test the Winter Fuel Payment will lead to the suffering of 100,000 older people living in Teesside, that's 81% of pensioners in Middlesbrough, 86.8% in Stockton-on-Tees, 85.5% in Redcar and Cleveland and 80.9% in Hartlepool.
We know pensioners tend to do everything possible to avoid going into debt, so if they are worried about their energy bills, we know their likely response will be to ration their fuel use and economise by reducing their spending on other essentials. This policy change is therefore certain to result in more older people experiencing a horrible 'eating or heating' dilemma.
A donation from you, would help make sure our advisors can answer the phone to an older person in crisis.
Your support won't just benefit them this Christmas, by applying for Pension Credit, an older person could also have their Winter Fuel Payment reinstated - improving their financial security by up to £2500 each year, for years to come.
We can make this right, but we can't do it without you...
