Chinnor Silver Band Family funday Fundraiser

Aim: We are raising funds by staging a 5 hour continuous musical performance during our family fundraising day at the Wheatsheaf in Chinnor!

Chinnor Silver Band, a registered charity, has been in existence for over 100 years. It’s run entirely by volunteers and plays an active role in our local Community, offering free tuition and instrument loan to its members alongside performing at many local community events. We pride ourselves on being a truly inclusive Organisation and currently have 3 thriving and growing bands, something we are incredibly proud of:-

Senior Contesting Band -  Probably the one most of you will be familiar with, seeing us in action on Remembrance day and many other village and local events. This year the Senior band has qualified for the National Brass Band Finals of Great Britain where they will be proudly representing the London & Southern Counties area but more importantly representing their home village of Chinnor. This takes place in September and they’ll be trying their hardest to bring the Trophy home! The band has also been promoted to the First section nationally in 2026 - a great achievement for a ‘Village‘ band.

Training band - This is exactly what it says, It consists mainly of youngsters but also some adults who also want to learn a brass instrument. It’s a natural way for members to develop and progress into our Senior band.

Community Band- our newest band, formed in 2024 and consisting of those players who have maybe retired, are not always regularly playing or are just available during the daytime. It is a group that meet purely for fun (plus tea and cake),  enjoy music making & each other’s company!

The cost of running our organisation is rising rapidly. Just attending the National Finals will cost us over £1500. We recently visited some of our local Schools to promote Brass Music and we have a list of children wishing to join but we need the resources, particularly instruments, to support this as often parents can’t afford the high cost of a Brass instrument. Likewise our community band also has financial needs that we need to support.. 

Our funday is being held at the Wheatsheaf in chinnor (A massive thanks to Landlord Roger for his support!) on Sat 5th of July from 1pm - 6pm. The 3 bands will join together and stage a 5 hour continuous Performance and we’d love all friends and supporters to pop along and cheer us on! You may also meet our 4th band, our German Oompah band! There will be lots of things going on during the 5 hours - more details to follow! Any support you can offer us, however small, will make a massive difference to our fund raising efforts and will be so gratefully received. Your support will help Chinnor Silver Band to represent the village in September and to continue it’s great work as an organisation.
