We're still collecting donations

Who are Chilwell Cricket Club?
Our small club was formed in 1890, making us 130 years old in the 2020 season. We have two teams that play in the Gunn & Moore South Nottinghamshire Cricket League on Saturdays.
We also have two Sunday teams - one in the Newark Alliance Sunday League (Division 1), and the other in the Mansfield & District League (Division 3 South).
Why are we looking for your support?
Despite our long history as a club, we have no nets or training facility. Instead of a very costly new structure, we want to refurbish and restore the old nets structure behind Chilwell School / Chilwell Olympia. This would have the added bonus of providing a facility for outdoor training for school pupils and the wider community, as well as our immediate club members.
Last year we had planned to work on refurbishing of the nets during this year. However, with our funds severely affected by the cancellation of much the 2020 season due to the COVID crisis, our income has been drastically reduced while costs remain, which threatened to scupper this project. Therefore, we call on members, supporters, and the wider community (especially cricket lovers connected to Chilwell school) to help with a long overdue project to provide training facilities and resources.
Funds raised will go towards (in order of priority): new frame & netting (current structure is falling apart and full of holes!); new matting / surfaces; extended matting for bowling run-ups (instead of long grass); training equipment. Any remaining funds will go towards a sight screen for our ground, new scoreboard, and boundary markers.
What we offer to the wider community?
Chilwell CC deliver recreational community sport and physical activity for our diverse membership, who range from 15 to 65+ years old. We have a long history (130 years!) of playing cricket in the area, with many connections in the Nottingham and wider community. Today, our club is a low-cost hub compared to most of our neighbours - and more than 50% of members are from the BAME community, providing important links within and between cultures in the region.
With the restoration of the Chilwell School nets and addition of further training equipment, this will consolidate the recent progress of our club - enhancing our links to the wider community and our future potential.
