The Children’s Respite Trust is a charity that truly believes that no family should be left to care for a disabled child alone. Consequently, we provide respite for disabled children across Sussex and parts of Kent. At our Respite Centre in Uckfield we provide day-care, where children can come and enjoy some genuine stimulation using our soft play, messy play, sensory play and teenage lounges. In the community our carers will also visit the children in their homes to give their parents support and a rest. Our dedicated care staff are trained to make sure that the children themselves have the best possible time while their parents get the chance to do something that the rest of us take for granted. It might be as simple as doing a chore or getting a rest, but families will often use the time to dedicate some much needed attention to the siblings of the disabled children, who can otherwise miss out on so much.
