Aim: Raising funds to surface a waterlogged and extremely muddy playground area to make this a safer more usable space for the children to use.

ABOUT US:
Our church school has a historic and firm place within this ever-growing agricultural community. We now provide seven classes from Reception to Year 6 as well as a dedicated pre-school facility for children between the ages of three and four. Our numbers on roll have increased significantly due to the variety of housing being built in and around the area. We have had an increased pupil intake of 27% in the last few years.

Friends of Copp School, known as FOCS, are an active group of volunteers who raise money to support beneficial resources and projects.

Recent years have presented the education sector with many difficulties, and our school is no different. Delivering upon this vision for our children continues to present challenges, particularly from a budgetary perspective. Throughout the year FOCS support the school through fundraising activities. In the past 4 years alongside our wonderful headteacher FOCS have played an integral part in enabling the plans to improve the outdoor space to progress. From a safety perspective there was a strong need to implement some of the plans as quickly as possible as the restricted available space meant mixing ages from pre-school to year six. This presented significant risks to the pupils especially involving ball games.  As a PTFA charity we have worked tirelessly to raise funds to resource and manage the school’s requirements. We have proudly installed a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) to create an enclosed rotational area for the children to safely play ball games and other sporting activities.

PROJECT AIM:
Due to the increase in pupil numbers, we are urgently raising funds to surface a waterlogged and extremely muddy area of the playground to make this a safer more usable space for the children. We are looking at a sustainable eco water permeable surface, which can be taken right up to our trees and hedge-line. We are a rural school with environmental commitments and need to use a surfacing that protects the ecosystem providing adequate drainage to the surrounding woodlands area.

The cost of surfacing this area comes to a total of £19,000, to date we have raised £5,690 towards the project amount. None of these achievements would be possible without the generous support from our local community and self funding events. We would deeply appreciate any support to help fund the remaining £13,310 amount. Providing the children with playground facilities is beneficial to keep the children fit and healthy, playground amenities are proven to positively impact children's emotional, social, physical, and mental growth. We would like all our children to be able to make the most of their break times, with age-appropriate outdoor activities.

Investing in this project will benefit many local children and will continue to provide long-term benefits for future pupils.
