Who we are
The Children’s Bereavement Centre is a local charity run by a committed team of friendly, supportive and professional people, qualified to help with the grieving process brought on by the death or terminal illness diagnosis of someone close.
The Centre is open to children and young people from across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire aged 3 to18, and offers a welcoming and safe environment for them and their families to receive the help and guidance they need at one of the most devastating times of their lives.
How we do it
A childhood bereavement is one of the most traumatic experiences a child can face and unsupported it can have a detrimental effect well into adulthood. We offer early intervention support through one to one and group sessions which enable the children to talk about their anxieties and feelings and work through their grief in a safe non-threatening environment.
In normalising their feelings at an early stage the children will adapt more quickly to their loss and the risk of adverse behaviour and mental health problems will be reduced, allowing them to grow up healthier citizens; able to make a positive contribution in their communities.
Why we do it
"Thank you, you took a child that didn't know how to cope and was talking about self-harming back to a child who enjoys life and friends again."
"Both Daughters are coming to terms with their loss, due to the help they have received."
"The sessions have made a real difference to him and have definitely helped him on this tough journey. Thank you."
How you can help
All our services are offered free of charge so by supporting us you will be enabling the charity to continue to support the children and young people that desperately need our support.
Giving is not about making a donation, it's about making a difference, you will be making a difference to the loves of the children we support.
