Following a recent holiday in the adjacent hotel, we saw the local village and met the children in the school.
Conditions were beyond poor. The village of over 2000 people survives on an hour of running water per day allowed by the governing body. Drains are open and full of refuse, add this to the heat and the flies - conditions for the children of the village are something we felt we had to help with.
Money raised will empower the village to address its drainage situation to be able to collect clean running water. Further support will be for the school, supplying regular bottled water, a covered play area, pens, pencils, and general school essentials.
Any work will be completed with the support and guidance of the local mosque and the manager of the hotel, who very much wish to make a difference to the people of this village.
