Aim: Our aim is to raise money so that we can provide vehicular access and parking at our allotment site, the photo shows what we currently have.

Child Okeford Relief in Need was set up to give aid to people in need in our community. Much of our income is from our allotments but access to the site is challenging and we want to make the plots available to everyone and to do this we need to provide proper access and parking spaces.

We all know that time spent outdoors and taking part in gardening activities helps support both mental and physical health. Lack of suitable access means some members of our community are unable to access the site and we want to offer everyone, regardless of age or physical ability, the opportunity to have a plot and grow their own fruit and veg.

Our fund raising target is challenging but with the support of donors like yourself we can get the improvements made. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

Our allotment site has been part of the community since 1845, when it was given to the parish under the Inclosures Act of 1842, to assist the poor of the parish. Since then it has had its ups and downs. The money raised from the plot rentals has always been given to help people in need and none spent on maintaining the allotments.

Three years ago there were only four active plot holders, the site was extremely overgrown and uninviting and our charity had two trustees. With a lot of effort we have grown this to 17 plots in use with space to create more and 6 trustees. These new trustees and plot holders have brought new energy and hope that we can make the site flourish again.

A new track and parking would mean a lot to us. It would allow us to clear the remaining site knowing that anyone could access the new plots. It would also benefit existing plot holders as they would be able to bring in bulky items easily, bring all their family members to the site and allow us to create a more sociable community.
