Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir

RCN 500561, Chesterfield

A friendly, supportive choir of 80 singers based in NE Derbyshire, often supporting local charities through collections at our performances. We are closely affiliated with the famous Crooked Spire church in Chesterfield and perform 4 or more concerts a year, from classical choral to theatre & shows. In collaboration with other venues, choirs and artists we have recently performed Christmas Carols for English Heritage in Bolsover Castle, summer concerts in Bridlington Priory and worked with Lesley Garrett. We aim to make music accessible to young people and new audience wherever we can.

Chesterfield Phil has been rehearsing and singing concerts in and around NE Derbyshire for over 50 years. Our focus is to use the benefits of singing together to improve the health and well-being of our members and audiences alike. Weekly rehearsals allow people to get together in a friendly, supportive environment that improves mental and physical health. Singing our best to an audience encourages team work and brings joy to those listening.

We try to draw the wider community in by regularly getting together with children's choirs from local schools, and by supporting community events and charities. Every year we put on a choral workshop with participants from across the UK and take donations for a local charity at our free evening performance.   Recently we donated all the proceeds from our post Covid concert to the local Hospice, which desperately needs funds.

We regularly use professional and semi-professional musicians, often supporting young singers through links to the RNCM and other singing schools, including sponsoring a choir member, now a professional soloist to attend college.

By supporting us you can help us continue to help others who benefit from putting on amateur music performances to a professional standard, either through their participation, listening or financial contributions to support their work.
