We all know time is short with just weeks until we can choose a new government. Greens across the country do things differently, always working to offer fair, green solutions that make life better for all.
There are four constituencies here in Cheshire East; Congleton, Tatton, Macclesfield and Crewe and Nantwich. General Elections are very expensive and for each Green candidate on the ballot paper, we need to place a £500 deposit. Sending out information and leaflets to members and constituents costs further money and we are reliant upon donations to fund this.
Can you help us secure £2,000 to ensure we give everyone in the Cheshire East area the opportunity to vote Green? If we can raise a total above this target, we will use further funds to campaign in our local constituencies in the run up to the election and beyond.
Now's Our Chance
The Green voice is more important than ever, please help us by contributing whatever you can afford to get our general election campaigns underway.
Constituencies and candidates
Cheshire East Green Party are delighted to have already selected 4 excellent candidates:-
Amanda Iremonger – Macclesfield Candidate
Amanda lives locally and works in Macclesfield. After raising a family and building a successful global career she is now a volunteer facilitator for an addiction recovery group, a recent student at Macclesfield College and of course actively supports environmental activities.
Amanda says: “There will be a lot of pressure on our voters to “vote tactically”. But tactical voting only works if you end up with what you want. If you want a fairer, more equal society VOTE GREEN.”
Nigel Hennerley – Tatton Candidate
Nigel has lived and worked in Tatton for 25 years as an Insurance Loss Assessor and serves as a parish councillor in High Legh. This is the 3rd time Nigel has stood for the parliamentary seat of Tatton.
“I am very proud to be standing again in Tatton in what will be a very important election. “It is crucial that people have the opportunity to vote for the planet, action on climate change and to put pressure on the other parties to do better for the environment.
“We can do better. We will invest properly in our public services and environment. Together we can create a fairer, greener country.”
Rich McCarthy – Congleton Candidate
Rich McCarthy has lived in Alsager and Congleton for 16 years, during which he has taught and been a foster carer. Before that he has been an energy audit trainer and consultant for a National Scottish Charity, and works to combat the climate emergency.
Besides pushing hard to cut emissions, reduce and electrify our energy usage, Rich will fight to protect both the standards and the people in the linchpins of our society –the NHS, social care, social housing, nurseries, schools, colleges, universities and councils
Te Ata Browne – Crewe and Nantwich
“I’m standing for the second time as a parliamentary candidate because I believe in creating a better future for our community, continuing to give people the option to vote for an alternative…
“Residing locally in Crewe and Nantwich, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities our constituency presents. My commitment to our community transcends my practical expertise. Serving as a previous councillor and vice chair person for Crewe Green Parish Council has provided me with invaluable insights into the complexities of local governance and the necessity of effective leadership….
“I’m committed to addressing the pressing social issues, particularly deprivation, that affect Crewe and Nantwich, with a specific focus on building a sustainable and inclusive society.”

Did you know about 'Short Money'?
Every vote the Greens gain at the general election means Greens in parliament are allocated a greater slice of 'Short Money'. This is government funding for opposition MPs to aid them in completing parliamentary business. A Green vote is never wasted as it translates into more Short Money for the parliamentary Green Party. For further information about short money, follow this link https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn01663/
So...
- Your donation will help locally to get a Green candidate on the ballot.
- All the votes received by our candidates at the general election translate into government funding for Green MPs in the next parliament, regardless of where they hail from geographically.
- If our candidates are able to retain their deposit (by securing 5% of the vote in their constituency), those funds come back to us and will help us strengthen our work here in Cheshire East.
Please share this appeal far and wide with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues!
