Our charity took over operational control of Cheltenham Lido, on the 1st April 1996. We have since invested over £4.8m to preserve and enhance our wonderful facility. Our lido is Grade II listed and has been identified as being nationally significant as one of the most historically complete lido's in the Country.
In 2021 we secured a 2nd operational lease which runs until 2056. Longevity of tenure enables us to apply for grants to continue with our development and carbon reduction plans to ensure a financially viable future.
One such grant was £306,065 from a grant called SPSF (swimming pool support fund) this was a government initiative supported by Sport England, The national Lottery and HMRC. We went on to secure additional funding from our amazing lido community, Aviva Community Fund and Cheltenham Borough Council. We completed the whole project by the of March 2025.
With our ambition to "Secure our lido for the next 90 years" our fundraising journey continues.
