What is CHAOS
CHAOS is a small registered charity, based in East London, managed entirely by unpaid volunteers, who join in the running of the organisation, arranging summer camps, fundraising, liaising with schools and families, and general admin.
The Charity's Mission
Our principal mission is to provide free summer camping holidays for local disadvantaged children, as part of our core aim to alleviate poverty. The charity was founded in 1976, but it is shocking to acknowledge that poverty in East London has grown, made worse by the current cost of living crisis. Where funds allow, food, gifts and funding has been provided to local families struggling to support themselves.
Work with Schools
CHAOS works with local schools to identify families most in need of support. One of our Learning Mentor contacts had this to say after our camps:
