CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST - HOUSE OF PRAISE PARISH

The Celestial Church of Christ is a Holy Spirit-initiated church founded in Africa in 1947. In England, there are 69 churches. Our church is based in Middleton, Sadler Street and is called House Of Praise (HOP). Our main work is to offer people a place to worship for African Diaspora and other communities who follow this faith.  We also provide services to individuals, families, couples, youths and organizations broadening on mental health, check-in facilities and Counselling (Telephone, video, one-on-one).

We have PREVIOUSLY received funds to support our Food Bank/Pantry that was set up and opened on the back of the COVID pandemic and the growing needs among our community to respond to food insecurities. This Food Pantry has been in operations to provide specialized foods for BAME (Black Asians & Minority, Ethnic) community. For exmple,  1. Gari, Stock fish, Red oil, Yam and Poundo Yam. The sudden increase in the cost of living has been a major concern to the people as a whole and as a result, a lot of people have been found to be depressed as their source of income does not meet with their needs, especially now that there is a great need for warmth and shelter due to the coming winter period. We plan to expand our food bank to include local and specialised food for our community (BAME) to help in reducing the effects on increase of cost of living, we have decided to concentrate on the supply of food items as our previous activities has already made our organisation known providing food relieve.

This food project will help eradicate food poverty and held to provide food that are culturally related to the communities that we serve.

There are shortages of African/Caribbean foods which have caused food insecurities and can lead to under nourishment all because of a sudden rise in food prices.

This project will also impact on human development factors, influencing the healthy levels of lifestyle and help children to concentrate on their education, and will improve the quality of life for other vulnerable members of our community. Food insecurities has already caused a lot of malnutrition, vulnerability and hungry children.
