Who is doing this?
Jim, Vicky, Rebecca and Harriet, regular volunteers at Lancaster parkrun, have started this. It's an event by the volunteers, for the volunteers. While parkrun has brought us together, the parkrun organisation is not involved.
What are we doing?
We are hiring the hall at the Gregon Community Centre on the evening of 8th June, 2024 for all volunteers of Lancaster or Ryelands Junior parkrun to meet, eat, drink and chat. We extend the invitation to all volunteers, past, present or future, of any age. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
What will it be like?
We'll start at 6.30 to be family-friendly. We ask you to bring an item of food to share and between us we should have a feast. Please take home any left-overs so food does not go to waste. The Gregson provides a bar where you can get a drink so please use that to support another great local organisation.
Our aim is to be as warm and welcoming as parkrun itself. There should be lots of familiar faces and plenty of chat. We may have some music playing in the background and possibly some photos on display.
We'll be closing up at 11pm.
Why are we asking for donations?
The hall costs £165 to hire and we'll print some invites and provide some paper plates. We hope you think this is an event you'd like to come to and be willing to support. It's just a bit more money than we want to fork out all by ourselves!
What if we raise more than our target?
Not a problem! Any surplus we'll donate to our parkruns. They need a bit to maintain the kit.
A word about donating.
Each transaction is charged 24p plus 2.9%. That makes small donations very inefficient. Of course we welcome all donations but I suggest that anything less than £5 is best done as a cash donation on the evening.
The suggested donations you will be shown are not our suggestions. Don't feel you have to give more than you want.
Crowdfunder may ask for a tip in addition to your donation to us. That is up to you. We are not paying them to use the service.
