Can you help us to end period discrimination and equip an IT suite in a remote school Mugu, Nepal. You can put any donation amount from £1

Project by YYY Foundation

We're celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and we're aiming high.  To help 5 schools in 5 phases with menstrual health, and IT facilities. The menstrual health program is aimed at ending period discrimination especially in schools. We will be holding menstrual health and hygiene seminars mainly for girls attending schools, teachers and wherever possible women from the wider community.  Every girl or woman taking part receives a kit with pants, washable waterproof liners, washable pads. The IT program includes provision of IT equipment, resources, teacher training, and a 3 year support plan.  Each school must contribute towards a secure clean and furnished room for the IT suite and must open to the wider community with access and training for adults.

We are currently raising funds for phase 1

Phase 1.

Gamgadhi is the capital of Mugu, it still has very little in the way of infrastructure the main road from the rest of Nepal ends here.  It’s not a road in as we would think of a road it’s still mostly single dirt track for the 2 day journey to the nearest highway and a further 6 days from Kathmandu. In size Gamghadi is the equivalent to a large village or very small town. Shree Mahakali Model Secondary School is at the end of the single road that runs through the town. The school is has electricity from the national grid, it’s unreliable and they will require solar backup.  We have started the preliminary work for the IT lab and have a formal agreement with the school and community leaders. We plan to revisit the school to  hold a seminar for 400 girls at the school and the surrounding area, with menstrual health, hygiene and gift menstruation kits to all the girls. We need to raise £7,000 to complete both programs at Gamgadhi.
