Coffee, Chill and Spill
We are a community project with the vision of building a community for parents (particularly mothers) in the early years of their parenting journey. We facilitate weekly peer support sessions in Stockport and Trafford with plans for another session in Ashton later this year.
I am the founder of the project (Vik) and I created it off the back of my own lived experience of postnatal anxiety and depression. In a community where I once very connected, I suddenly became felt isolated as a mother of two young children. My background is early years and family support and I wanted to create a space women could access and show up exactly how they needed to and they felt heard and connected. Parenting is amazing, but it can also be very overwhelming, especially for families who don’t have family support close by, so four years ago I facilitated the very first session and it has grown organically since then.
Currently, we support up to 50 families a week; providing non judgemental and welcoming environment that encourage mothers to come together and share their experiences.
We are different from the traditional play group as we offer emotional and wellbeing support especially when parents are struggling with social isolation or overwhelm.
We aim to empower parents to come together and build a network that continues outside of our sessions. All of our facilitators and volunteers have lived experience of perinatal mental health and are passionate about support mothers to come together and support each other.
Meet the team -

Our project is growing year on year and we rely soley on funding to cover costs such as rent, facilitation of the sessions, refreshments, resources, wellbeing activities, training, DBS’s. We are constituted non for project organisation at the moment, with the plan to become a CIC in the near future. Funding is a huge barrier for us and we are looking at different ways to cover our core costs so that we don’t have to reduce the resources we offer out to the community.
