Caring hands challenge lets thank our NHS heroes!

My Dad has cancer.

As a family we are dealing with the day by day reality of having a loved one with cancer.  This is made all the more difficult with the unwelcome arrival of the Coronavirus, creating enormous stress on our NHS. So, this story is no longer just about my dad, but about our wonderful NHS staff who care for us and our loved ones. 

We all know how amazing the NHS is, and we can all share an NHS hero story or two. In this time of crisis, local people have shown support by delivering gifts and takeaway food to staff; it was only last week that I helped a delivery driver carry 100 portions of take away curry into South Tyneside hospital! 

Whilst visiting my dad one evening, I noticed how many nurses had sore and cracked hands as a result of the constant hand washing needed to keep themselves and their patient’s infection free.
