What we do
CARE currently works in 104 countries, supporting millions of the world’s poorest people to find routes out of poverty.
We are there to provide life-saving assistance when disaster strikes, and to help people rebuild their lives afterwards.
And we are there to work alongside people and communities on long-term programmes to deliver lasting change.
Our programmes and our policy work tackle the systemic causes of poverty so that people can gain the power to change their own lives. We place special focus on empowering women and girls because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the ability to lift whole families and communities out of poverty.
How we do it
We inspire and encourage participation at every opportunity and with everyone we work with.
We’re experts at working with women and girls and their communities to overcome the complex drivers of poverty.
We are over 11,000 people working across over 100 countries. 95% of us are nationals of the countries we work in. We work with and alongside communities to support people to realise their power, elevate their voices, and achieve the change that they choose.
