We're still collecting donations

The global COVID-19 pandemic has meant I can't do my job. With your support, I'll stay healthy and still have a business at the end of it.

Photography has been an important part of my life from the time I got my first digital camera in 2002 when my son was born as I wanted to document every moment of his life. Over the next 15 years, my passion for capturing beautiful images and creating memories that would last a lifetime grew and developed into something bigger.
In 2017, my health forced me to change how and when I worked – my photography ticked all the boxes and Kate Henwood Photography was born. Working for myself means that I have the flexibility work when I am physically able to and use the time when I need to rest to learn new skills and market my business from my sofa!
My business is constantly evolving and growing, and my aim was to make 2019 the year when I could add “award-winning” to my business description. In June 2019, I achieved this goal, being awarded the national Mpower Women in Business Courage Award
As a widowed parent, it's down to me to provide for my son alone but being part of The Mumpreneurs Networking Club, both as a member and a manager of two of its groups has enabled me to progress my business and reach far more people than I could have done if I was working alone - you've always got support when you're part of a network community and this one definitely provides that!
The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British small businesses, which is going to make it very challenging for businesses to survive. Over the last few weeks, I watched the businesses of friends and colleagues grind to a standstill - none of us knowing how long for and whether we will even have a business to return to when all of this madness stops.
I'm wondering if you can help me...
My work, which I love, involves me working with families and individuals, in locations that they love and normally having fun; I also work with other small businesses, capturing them doing what they do best and providing them with a gallery of images that they can use for their social media, in print and on their websites. And when I'm not doing that, I love to capture that atmosphere at events and special occasions, looking for the little details that no one else sees.
But right now, COVID19 has made all of my work impossible...
As a freelance, location-based photographer, I have no studio, no rented office - nothing that I have to pay out for, so can't claim Government funding in their economic strategy to help us. My "office" is at home and my "team"consists of 2 cats and an over-excited Border Terrier called Cookie.
My net monthly profit is tiny - the Government has said they will pay up to 80% of this to self-employed folk...for 3 months...in June, backdated to March. Unfortunately, I can't afford to wait that long to find out how much I might be getting...I still have bills to pay and no-one else bringing in a wage. So I need to get creative and generate an income in a different way.
This is where you come in...
Life is short and memories are precious...we never know what might happen to our loved ones and with every mum having a camera on their phone, there are always loads of photos of the children and a parent of grandparent, but rarely one that has the whole family unit together...I came to this reality the hard way when my husband died. My son was 9 when my husband's cancer diagnosis was made...the only photos we had of us as a family were taken the day before his chemotherapy began and our lives changed forever. It's been my mission to ensure that families always have photos of them all together - just in case...
So I'm asking you to think about booking a photo-shoot with me, sometime in the next 12 months, but paying for it now. I've created a series of offers for you, starting from just £5, with different "rewards" available for each offer.
What's in it for you? Dependent on what you pledge, you could be getting a "thank you" photo from Cookie, a set of Kate Henwood Photography greetings cards, a gift voucher to use towards a photo-shoot or additional images or a photo-shoot with me, either for yourself or as a present for family or friends...
Oh and the warm fuzzy feeling that you've helped a local small business to survive this crisis and its passionate owner put food on the table and pay her bills...and her eternal gratitude and thanks for believing in her and supporting her and her family.
If you'd like to see more of my work and what I do, do pop over to my Facebook page, where you can see some of the crazy things I get up to and the lovely people I work with...
