On the 2nd October 2023 we'd raised £3,565 with 55 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Cantabrigian Rowing Club (better known as “Cantabs”) is the largest and most successful rowing club in Cambridge. Continually growing, we welcome members of all ages and abilities, running regular Learn to Row courses for adults and juniors to introduce the community to the sport. The club is active in the Cambridgeshire Rowing Association, competing in local and national British Rowing events, as well as hosting annual racing events, attended by clubs across the region. Cantabs provides the equipment and coaching to take rowing to a competitive level whilst also supporting novice and intermediate rowers within a friendly and relaxed environment.
Cantabs are looking to fundraise for some much needed boathouse refurbishments as we are an ever growing club and slowly exceeding our boathouse! We need to upgrade the facilities in the boathouse, not limited to bathrooms (3 for 300+ people isn't the most ideal!) and expanding the boat house to allow us to fit more boats & equipment in for the growing fleet to keep up with the growing club.
Cantabs provides an inclusive and supportive atmosphere with strong links to the local community. Our membership is drawn from diverse walks of life throughout Cambridgeshire and we deliberately keep membership fees low to avoid them being a barrier to participation. This is possible through our large group of volunteers, consisting of all coaches (some holding British Rowing volunteering awards) and the majority of members. Paired with our strong relationships with several local schools, this means we can deliver multiple daily sessions throughout the week for members, schools, and even local companies, encouraging healthier living mixed with socialisation throughout the community.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
