My name is Simon and I've invented a small, portable airway suction device called the CAMSUtm. Chris is an UK Army Veteran who served with honour in Afganistan, Iraq, Bosnia and Nothern Ireland.
The war in Ukraine is brutal and we'd like to help. We hope you will too.
The second most common reason for 'preventable death' on the battlefield is suffocation, due primarily to lack of effective airway suction. The airway becomes blocked typically when the soldier is in close proximity to an explosion and debris collects in their mouth.
The current standard issue device to clear blocked airways has poor performance and is insufficiently rugged for combat environments. There are countless documented and anecdotal episodes of catastrophic failure of the device due to design limitations and performance issues, leading sadly to numerous preventable deaths. Chris has unfortunately had personal experience in combat and sadly lost a collegue & close friend, due to the poorly perfoming standard issue device.
We are aiming to provide an effective solution; based on the proven technology CAMSU personalised care device, designed in collaboration with the Ukraine Armed forces and Manufacturers.
We've been to Warsaw, Poland and spoken with Ukrainian representatives via the DBT and British Embassy. We intend to visit Ukraine soon, indeed Chris will be based there for circa 3 months.
We are offering the IP license free to any Ukranian Manufacturer who will design and produce up to 10,000 free of charge combat ready CAMSU's to the Ukraine Armed Forces, for use prmarily by combat medics on the frontline.
Your donation will be used to fund the UK part of the project. This includes legal and other administration fees, Chris' time in the Ukraine (food, accomodation ,travel etc), Simon's participation including a number of short trips to Ukraine and Poland. It will also include some design consultancy and medical device regulatory matters.
Airway Medical is the worlds only Sustainable Medical Device company. A small percentage will be used to mitigate any CO2 (Greenhouse Gas) impact during the project. We aim to offset by double the calculated impact.
Thank you
Simon and Chris
